This is a little vest that I made for Ms.G, who had been insisting that her wardrobe was in need of this fundamental article of clothing (really? really!). The fabric came from that same thrift store, but last year, and it used to be a long, and rather ugly skirt, which happened to be new (I wonder why). A long, quilted skirt with a wide gathered nylon lace frill at the bottom. I don't know how old it was but my guess would be prior to the 70's at least! The fabric itself is so cute though! And it was waiting for the right time to come out of the shelf. The button is from the stash, and will soon be available on etsy, where I'm opening a brand new shop! (EDIT: they've are sold out)
I used a basic bodice pattern, altered the length, armscye and change the closure. I made it double breasted, but cut the top front in a diagonal line, to add interest and contrast with the big Mod button. This vest is lined in yellow cotton fabric and the bias tape around it also came from the thrift shop :D
And I think I should make myself one as well, if there's enough fabric, that is!
